Animal Harbor is a limited-admission animal shelter facility serving Franklin County, Tennessee. It is operated by members of The Franklin County Humane Society, a private non-profit 501(c)(3) organization.

Location and Hours

Animal Harbor is located at 25 Walnut Grove Road-- at the corner of Highway 64 and Walnut Grove Road. This is nine miles south-west of downtown Winchester, Tennessee, just past Belvidere, Tennessee, going toward Huntland, Tennessee. Coming south just past Belvidere, watch for a favorite local landmark, the Swiss Pantry, and Animal Harbor will be one mile further, on the right. Click here for map.

The mission of The Franklin County Humane Society is to

  • Provide health care and temporary shelter for lost and homeless companion animals
  • Find new loving homes for these pets
  • Reduce pet overpopulation by promoting spaying and neutering
  • Prevent cruelty to animals
  • Educate the community about animal welfare

Animal Harbor opened its doors in February of 2003. It was the first animal shelter in Franklin County.
